Breaking the silence of social isolation and mental health stigma

Did you know? 1 in 4 people feel socially isolated, and 1 in 4 will experience mental illness in their lifetimes. Join us – and take action against loneliness and social isolation.

As you may have notice anywhere you go there are more seniors than youth. This is because our population is ageing and the popularity of social media rises. Social isolation has become a growing problem. In fact, according to some researchers, social isolation may be a bigger public health threat than obesity. Loneliness has been linked to many health problems including mental illness and depression, physical illness, frequent hospital visits, malnutrition, and death. It is a prevalent threat that does not discriminate across age, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status.

Because loneliness is a public health issue that requires an all-of-community approach. We need to work together.

So why we have big dreams?:

Because through awareness initiatives is when we see these issues disappearing. We want to deliver 10 awareness presentations to schools and universities in 2018, as well as opening 100 new locations for small group meet-ups by 2020.

To Success!
